Musical Bio

I was fortunate enough to begin learning the violin and piano at the age of 5 and quickly fell in love with both instruments. My first violin teacher, Jane Browne, was inspirational and I played my first solo, Baa Baa Black Sheep, at a concert in St. Nicholas-At-Wade after six weeks.
Having joined my church choir the year before, the organist suggested I audition, aged 8, for a scholarship to study under Ronald Smith through the Kent Music School.

The man that hath no music in himself, Nor is not moved with concord of sweet sounds, Is fit for treasons, stratagems and spoils; The motions of his spirit are dull as night And his affections dark as Erebus: Let no such man be trusted
William Shakespeare, The Merchant of Venice
Composition

As with my other writing, I started dabbling in musical composition from childhood.
As a teenager, I was awarded a runner-up prize for a conceptual composition, entitled
Revelation.

Since becoming Organist at
St. Andrew’s, I have written original works and arrangements for SATB choir, including a setting of the Canticles and several anthems.
